Experienced Litigator Paul Mitchell Joins Andrews Kurth

Mitchell Also Counsels Clients in All Aspects of Corporate Investigations

HOUSTON – Andrews Kurth is pleased to announce that Paul L. Mitchell has joined the firm’s Houston office as a Partner in the Litigation section. He will concentrate on commercial litigation, with an emphasis on companies in the energy sector.

In the area of litigation, Mitchell has extensive experience in both state and federal courts, including commercial, oil and gas, and employment litigation. He has both prosecuted and defended cases involving claims of fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, tortious interference and numerous other matters.

“We are excited that Paul is joining our firm,” said Bob Jewell, Andrews Kurth Managing Partner. “He’s a very well-regarded litigator, with a breadth of talents.”

In addition to litigation, Mitchell practices in the area of corporate investigations. His experience has included representation of corporations and audit committees in investigations and disclosures to the SEC and DOJ of transactions implicating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and Sarbanes-Oxley investigations of alleged internal wrongdoing. In one matter, he represented a Special Litigation Committee of a major energy trading company, which resulted in the successful dismissal of a derivative suit.

Mitchell earned his J.D., summa cum laude, from The University of Houston Law Center, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif, the Order of the Barons and associate editor of the Houston Law Review. He received his B.A. in political science from Rice University, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, in 1982.
