Mark Riedy Joins Andrews Kurth's Washington Office
October 25, 2004WASHINGTON -- Mark Riedy, a corporate attorney most recognized for his representation of clients in infrastructure project development and asset finance in more than 40 countries and in international technology transactions (including outsourcing), has joined the Washington, D.C. office of Andrews Kurth. Riedy has more than 24 years of legal experience in providing advice and counsel to his clients on a national and international level in energy, environment, communications, infrastructure, manufacturing, and technology transactions. His principal representation of clients in these matters includes project development and asset finance, corporate, tax, contract negotiation and drafting, and international trade. In addition, Riedy has represented clients in international disputes requiring his counsel before many foreign agencies, arbitration panels and courts. His speaking engagements for the past year have centered around the rebuilding of Iraq and Afghanistan and various business affairs (including project finance, investment structuring, technology, and offshore outsourcing) with respect to India, the Philippines, and China.
Riedy is recognized as one of the nation’s foremost attorneys in the representation of clients in Asia (particularly South Asia) — U.S. related transactions. His client base has ranged from domestic Fortune 500 to major companies and organizations in matters throughout Asia, the Middle East, and the United States.
Riedy’s most recent experience includes representing clients in the development and finance of a power project in India; the acquisition of a natural gas liquids and storage facility in the United States; structuring the export finance of equipment into Egypt; structuring companies into Iraq (including contract drafting, tax, and corporate advice) for work under various U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contracts; negotiating and drafting software integration, technology equipment supply, and offshore outsourcing agreements in the United States, Asia, and the Middle East; and other transactional matters.
Riedy received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1978 and graduated with a B.A., summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Michigan in 1975. Riedy serves the United States and other countries by participating in various boards and memberships such as the U.S. – India Business Council, the American Council on Renewable Energy, the Clean Fuels Development Coalition, the South Asia Regional Energy Coalition, the U.S. – Bangladesh Business Council, the U.S. – Pakistan Business Council, and the Indian American Republican Council.
