Partner Laura Trenaman of Andrews Kurth Gains Acceptance to Leadership Texas
December 11, 2007Houston, TX
HOUSTON – The Foundation for Women’s Resources recently accepted Laura Trenaman, a Partner in Andrews Kurth’s Litigation practice, to participate in the 2008 program of Leadership Texas, an event dedicated to providing education and training to Texas’ women leaders.
Leadership Texas brings together Texas women who have demonstrated their leadership ability in their profession, community or workplace. According to the group’s website, the vision of the program is to identify and develop Texas’ women leaders by providing them with essential information, an awareness of ongoing changes, sharpened skills and an enduring network of women from diverse backgrounds.
“I’m honored to be included in the program for this year,” said Trenaman. “I look forward to learning best practices from the other participants in the program and sharing them with our own women leaders here at the firm.”
Trenaman’s practice covers all phases of defense of health care liability claims, including discovery and pretrial matters, motion practice, settlement negotiations and trial. She is a lecturer for health care clients and has defended various types of personal injury and insurance matters, including toxic torts and products liability.
“We congratulate Laura on this prestigious opportunity,” said Meredith Mouer, a Partner and co-chair of the Women’s Initiative Team (WIT). “The goals of Leadership Texas align very well with WIT’s mission of developing programs to recruit, retain and advance women lawyers at Andrews Kurth. I’m certain that our women leaders will benefit greatly from Laura’s experience.”
Trenaman received her J.D. in 1997 from the University of Houston Law Center, magna cum laude, where she was a member of the Houston Law Review, Order of the Barons and Order of the Coif.
“The year-long Leadership Texas program reminds us of the obligation to be engaged and informed on issues beyond our profession: immigration, health care, state budget challenges, stem cell research, genetic engineering,” stated Liz Wiley, an Andrews Kurth Partner and alumna of the Leadership Texas program. “To be tested intellectually and emotionally on such issues, with women from diverse backgrounds and professions throughout Texas, you cannot help but emerge a changed person with a renewed commitment to leadership.”
