Partner Robin Russell of Andrews Kurth Elected to American Law Institute
December 10, 2007HOUSTON – The American Law Institute (ALI) recently announced the election of 47 new members, including Robin Russell, a Partner in the Bankruptcy/Restructuring practice of Andrews Kurth.
Members are elected through a highly selective process that recognizes people for their significant professional achievements and a demonstrated interest in the improvement of the law, states ALI President Michael Traynor.

Russell has a bankruptcy/finance practice, including representation of banks, institutional lenders and corporate borrowers in secured and unsecured commercial and consumer credit transactions as well as restructuring and financial regulatory matters. She has also represented corporate debtors, liquidating trustees, bondholders, unsecured creditors’ committees, bank groups, landlords, trade creditors and bidders for estate assets in Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 bankruptcy proceedings and related bankruptcy litigation.

Russell is the author of numerous publications, most recently “Last Rights: Liquidating a Company,” co-authored with Hugh M. Ray and Dr. Ben Branch and published by Oxford University Press. Her other works include the “Texas Secured Lending Guide,” which focuses on the proper documentation of commercial and consumer loans by Texas bankers, “Texas Real Estate Lending Guide” and “Texas Problem Loan Guide,” all published by the Texas Bankers Association. She has also authored two West Group publications, “Texas Practice Guide: Financial Transactions” and “Texas Practice Guide: Creditors Rights,” co-authored with Hugh M. Ray, as well as numerous articles.
Russell received her LL.M. in 1993 in Banking Law Studies at Boston University School of Law. She received her J.D. in 1986 from Baylor University School of Law, cum laude, where she was the highest ranking graduate and editor-in-chief of the Baylor Law Review. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.S. in International Trade, magna cum laude, in 1983.
