Andrews Kurth Attorney Receives “Dealmaker” Recognition: Kathleen Wu Named a Top 500 Practitioner on Lawdragon List
July 31, 2007Dallas
DALLAS - Lawdragon, a quarterly print and online publication serving the legal community, has named Kathleen J. Wu of Andrews Kurth as one of the nation's top 500 "Dealmakers." The attorneys listed encompass a wide range of transactional expertise involving mergers and acquisitions, securities, private and public financing, and real estate. Ms. Wu is one of only 11 Dallas-based attorneys on the Lawdragon list.
To complete the list of top transactional attorneys, Lawdragon staff interviewed thousands of legal professionals about who they would trust to handle their own legal affairs. The results of that survey and independent research make up the prestigious list, which includes less than .01 percent of all the lawyers in the nation. The entire list is available at www.lawdragon.com.
"It is no surprise that Kathleen's colleagues selected her for this type of recognition," says Bob Jewell, Managing Partner of Andrews Kurth. "Persistence, attention to detail and creative thinking have been hallmarks of her work for more than 20 years."
Ms. Wu is consistently recognized as one of the state's top real estate and finance lawyers in publications that include Texas Lawyer, Texas Monthly and D Magazine. She also writes a regular column on issues facing women in the legal profession for Texas Lawyer, and she frequently speaks about the benefits of diversity in the workplace.
Ms. Wu has held several management positions at Andrews Kurth, including Dallas Managing Partner, and has served for the past six years on the firm's Policy Committee. She is the driving force behind the firm's biannual Executive Women's Retreat, which brings together the firm's women lawyers and their female clients for a weekend of networking.
Ms. Wu has received numerous honors for her community and professional service efforts, including the Justice David Wellington Chew Award from the Asian Pacific Interest Section of the State Bar of Texas, the Louise B. Raggio Award from the Dallas Women Lawyers Association, and the "Women of Spirit" award from the American Jewish Congress Southwest Region.
