Before coming to Andrews Kurth in 2000, Paul served some 25 years in the Law Department of a major international integrated oil, gas, and chemical company where he handled a variety of legal matters related to that company’s chemicals businesses, including business transactions and environmental matters. His environmental practice has included participation in (i) handling administrative and transactional aspects of site environmental investigation and remediation under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA or Superfund), (ii) coordinating activities within PRP Groups, and (iii) negotiating with the United States Environmental Protection Agency and relevant state authorities. Paul also has been involved in internal environmental compliance audits and in external environmental due diligence activities asociated with stock and asset transactions;,  and he has experience in drafting sale and purchase agreements, and serving on negotiating teams, with respect to industrial real estate transactions. He also has served on litigation defense and prosecution teams, assisting in developing and evaluating strategies and marshalling evidence.
