Chris' practice focuses on commercial and business litigation, with an emphasis on financial institutions. Representing banks and other corporate clients in federal and state courts, as well as in arbitration, he has handled cases involving lender liability issues, business torts, fraud, contracts, fiduciary duties and employment matters.
The lender liability issues that Chris has been involved with have included alleged officer misrepresentations regarding loan authority, payment terms, collateral requirements, guarantees, forbearance matters and more. Other issues have included allegations regarding wrongful repossession and/or foreclosure matters, disposition of collateral, collusion with other parties and self-dealing.
Representative Experience
- Represented a banking institution in a multi-million dollar claim regarding the acquisition of one corporate customer of the bank by another corporate customer. Allegation was that the bank was in collusion with the selling corporate customer in order to defraud the buyer. (2006)
- Represented a banking institution in a multi-million dollar claim by a customer alleging self-dealing by the bank in connection with the manipulation of collateral. (2003)
- Represented banking institutions in numerous cases involving forged payees and forged endorsements.
- Represented a banking institution in a multi-million dollar claim alleging wrongful and tortious foreclosure on collateral. (2003)
- Represented a banking institution in a claim by one of its directors alleging a breach of fiduciary duty.
- Represented numerous banking institutions in claims alleging wrongful repossession and commercially unreasonable disposition of collateral.
- Represented banking institution alleging officer misrepresentations regarding loan authority, payment terms and collateral requirements. (2004)
