John practices in all areas of bankruptcy law, concentrating on business bankruptcy and reorganization proceedings. He regularly represents debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, bondholders and committees in Chapter 11 cases, bankruptcy litigation and appellate matters. John has represented distressed companies and debtors-in-possession as they seek to restructure or dispose of business units, including companies in the forest products, oil and gas, healthcare, telecommunications and ship building industries. He has particular experience in completing asset sales, analyzing and restructuring critical customer contracts and advising senior management and directors with respect to employee retention, insurance, environmental and other operational issues that arise in Chapter 11 proceedings and workout situations. John also regularly represents Chapter 7 trustees in liquidation proceedings, including auctions and other dispositions of property. He has extensive experience in evaluating and litigating preference and other avoidance actions, especially fraudulent transfer claims. He has practiced before bankruptcy courts in all districts in California, as well as the bankruptcy courts for Arizona, the Southern District of Mississippi and the Southern and Northern Districts of Texas, among others.
